Looking after workers is in Labor’s DNA.
That is why a Labor Government will better support our regional and rural health workers who provide care to Tasmanians at one of the state’s 18 district hospitals.
Under Labor’s Right Priorities Plan, 150 health workers will have their university HELP debt wiped when they work in a regional hospital for a minimum of three years.
A Labor Government will further support training by investing $1 million in the Rural Medical Workforce Centre at the Mersey Community Hospital, expanding the program to include nurse practitioners and allied health professionals.
In its ten years in office, the minority Liberal Government has failed to implement plans for workforce recruitment and retention, often meaning our health workforce is short staffed and under immense pressure.
Labor’s Right Priorities Plan provides practical solutions to reduce bed block, ambulance ramping and emergency department overcrowding at our major hospitals by increasing access to health services closer to where people live.
This investment is the right priority for Tasmania and will help bolster the rural and regional workforce that the minority Liberal Government has neglected for ten years.
