Labor would invest $6.5 million to improve ambulance response times, giving regional Tasmanians peace of mind they can receive timely care in their time of need.
Under Labor’s Right Priorities Plan, $3.5 million will be allocated to employ 21 new paramedics. This will enable the ambulance stations at Smithton, Queenstown, Nubeena, Bridport, Swansea and Oatlands to be upgraded to double branch stations, staffed 24/7 by permanent paramedics.
A further $3 million will be provided for minor upgrades as required at the six stations.
This should mean that fewer ambulances will be diverted from other stations, allowing paramedics and volunteers to better serve their local communities and better outcomes for patients.
Since the minority Liberal Government came to office almost 10 years ago, ambulance response times have worsened, ramping is rife and paramedics are burnt out.
Labor would get to work addressing the health crisis and fixing the neglect from this Liberal government over its 10 years in office.
