Jeremy Rockliff’s reluctance to support his candidate for the Rumney election raises some serious questions.
The Premier has barely been sighted during his candidate’s campaign.
Is he worried about a repeat of the Pembroke election, where the Liberal candidate lost badly to Labor's Luke Edmunds?
Or perhaps the Liberal candidate for Rumney being strongly backed by people like Senators Duniam and Chandler – who have been critical of the Premier’s priorities – is putting Rockliff off?
Labor’s candidate Sarah Lovell has enjoyed strong support from her colleagues, including Labor Leader Rebecca White.
The Rumney election will be a contest on the issues that really matter to the electorate – things like health, housing and cost-of-living.
Maybe Rockliff’s reluctance to support his candidate is because after nearly ten years in power, he knows the Liberal Government is failing on all these fronts.
