TSL clubs have been hung out to dry by Premier Rockliff.
Clubs have been told the TSL will not continue beyond the end of 2024. This is a really bad outcome for the Tasmanian football community.
It is our understanding the TSL clubs will be expected to go back and play regional footy and will lose their current funding.
The AFL has once again shown it cares nothing for an aspirational club competition in the state – and once again Jeremy Rockliff has been all too keen to give in to their demands.
How can we be a football state without a statewide league?
TSL clubs are centres of excellence with footy programs that are aspirational and ambitious.
It is impossible to comprehend how a VFL Team will be underpinned by regional football. And who are the two Launceston TSL clubs going to play against?
Jeremy Rockliff and the AFL clearly do not comprehend that clubs are the lifeblood of local communities.
Today is a disaster for the seven TSL clubs, and a bad day for the future of footy in Tasmania.
