Craig Farrell is the Member for Derwent and President of the Legislative Council.
Craig Farrell was born in Scottsdale. He attended school in Scottsdale then Alanvale College in Launceston. Craig is married with four children and seven grandchildren.
Craig has had a long involvement with Local Government having served as a Derwent Valley Councillor between 2002 and 2011. He was Deputy Mayor-of the Council between 2009 and 2011.
Craig worked in Television in a range of roles and also in real estate. Prior to entering state politics Craig worked for the Hon. Dick Adams, then Federal Member for Lyons.
Craig was elected to the Legislative Council seat of Derwent in May 2011 and in August 2011 became Deputy Leader of the Legislative Council.
On the retirement of Doug Parkinson in May 2012 Craig became Leader of the Government in the Legislative Council. As Leader, Craig was responsible for securing the passage of all Government legislation, answering all Government questions at Question Time, arranging briefings and other Government business. He is a Member of a number of Parliamentary Committees.
Craig has a diverse range of community associations and a wide range of interests including Citroen cars, railways and transport, music, regional tourism, travel and small business development. He also has a strong involvement with his local Lions and Rotary Clubs.
Craig lives locally in New Norfolk with his family.
