After 10 years of Liberal government, the latest jobs figures show Tasmania has the highest unemployment rate in the country, except the Northern Territory, with thousands of jobs lost over the past year.
The figures released today show Tasmania’s jobless rate is 4.5 per cent – well above the national rate of 3.8 per cent and the highest of all the states.
Alarmingly, the youth unemployment rate is 12.3 per cent.
And the loss of more than 10,000 jobs since March last year is devastating at a time when a planeload of young Tasmanians area leaving the state every week. If the Liberals haven’t fixed it in 10 years, we cannot risk giving them 14 years.
It’s time for the Liberals to go and for Tasmania to have a better future under a Rebecca White Labor Government.
