Will Gordon
Labor Candidate for Bass
Will Gordon is a registered nurse and has worked in paediatrics at the Launceston General Hospital since 2016.
Will comes from a family of health workers, including his parents and his partner, and he would bring a wealth of combined experience and knowledge to the Tasmanian Parliament.
Will believes it is the responsibility of a good government to provide opportunities for all, but with a good safety net of social security for those in need, along with quality health care and higher education for all.
As well as his seven years as a paediatric nurse, Will has worked with special needs children and in hospitality, giving him an excellent insight into the challenges and difficulties faced by small businesses and their employees.
Will’s work on the children’s ward at the Launceston General Hospital led to his involvement in the Commission of Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse and a strong commitment to fighting systemic failures and working to prevent child abuse in public settings.
Will believes in Tasmania’s public health service, but he also knows cultural change is needed – along with listening to healthcare workers and learning from their lived experience – to make the improvements needed to make it more efficient and to support health workers.
Will wants to see a health system where there is more transparency, accountability and responsibility.
