Delayed: report about dealing with Spirit delays

23 September 2024

No, it’s not a joke: Jeremy Rockliff has today revealed the report about how to deal with their Devonport Port delays will be... delayed.

We will now have to wait until ‘mid October’ to find out how the minority government plans to deal with the delays constructing Berth infrastructure at Devonport. A decision was supposed to be announced this week.

The project is already five years late, $500 million over budget and costing our tourism operators half a billion dollars in lost revenue. The last thing they need is more delays.

This latest debacle comes after revelations the Premier is considering hiding the new Spirits in Singapore until the new port infrastructure is ready, the Premier's refusal to stand by the latest timeline for the permanent port upgrades of 2026, and his inability to name one thing that's changed since he took over from Michael Ferguson a month ago.

Yet again, nothing is getting done under Jeremy Rockliff's minority Liberal government.
