Launceston General Hospital SOS another reason we can’t afford the Liberal-Lambie health cuts

24 July 2024

Revelations that the Health Department was forced to issue an extraordinary SOS message this past weekend, offering to pay all expenses for Hobart-based workers to go and staff the LGH ED, is more proof that Tasmania’s health system can’t afford the Liberal-Lambie cuts.

Calls like this are only necessary after a decade of the Liberals mismanagement of the health system, which has left hospitals desperately understaffed – forcing them to shell out for last minute, costly all expenses trips like this, to desperately cover shifts.

How much taxpayer money could have been saved if the Government simply directly employed enough workers in the first place?

Tasmania needs a government that backs health workers, but at the same time that staffing shortages and mismanagement are being laid bare, the Liberal-Lambie Coalition are cutting jobs and cutting resources in the health system.

Tasmania’s health system is sick enough – it cannot afford the Liberal-Lambie budget cuts.

Shadow Minister for Health
