More hot air from Liberals on energy

18 July 2024

Today’s Hydro Tasmania announcement from the Liberals is nothing more than hot air designed to distract from their terrible failure to deliver on new renewable energy projects.

Desperately lacking in the detail, the announcement sheds no light on what type of projects, if any they have in mind.

When will Tasmanians see action as an outcome of this revised charter? And will the government do everything within its power to deliver Robbins island, and Whaleback Ridge for the benefit of Tasmanians?

Despite having the best wind resources in the country, the Liberals have made Tasmania the hardest place to build a windfarm.

In fact, it’s now nearly four years since the last windfarm came online in Tasmania.

The empty energy announcements over the past two days don’t provide any evidence that this disastrous record will change.

Shadow Minister for Energy
