The Jacqui Lambie Network has again failed to let Tasmanians know what they stand for.
When given multiple opportunities to speak on an important motion about allowing standing committees to establish their own inquiries – and therefore increase transparency and accountability in the parliament – the Lambies refused, perhaps embarrassed that they were preparing to fall in behind their Liberal coalition partners against it.
The Lambies’ silence flies in the face of their own claims to be champions of “transparency and accountability”.
The Jacqui Lambie Network famously went to the election with no policies, and after a month of supposedly being represented by them in parliament, Tasmanians are still none-the-wiser about what they stand for.
While we may not know much about the Lambies, what we’ve seen so far suggests they are little more than a silent coalition partner willing to go back on their word to prop up the minority Liberal government.
