Where is Minister Duigan?

28 August 2024

We’ve heard Nick Duigan doesn’t like managing conflict, but his disappearing act throughout TasNetworks’ industrial dispute is a complete failure of leadership.

Let’s not forget: Nick Duigan is the Minister for TasNetworks and his reluctance to be involved in the situation means he is ducking his responsibility to his own workers.

These are workers experiencing a cost-of-living crisis. They are mothers and fathers trying to put food on the table for their families, and their Minister has been MIA throughout it all.

As the Minister for TasNetworks, he could choose to get involved to help bring the parties together and find a solution but instead, Duigan has stayed away and provided no leadership whatsoever.

If he’s not up for it, he needs to get out of the way so somebody else can step up to the plate.

Janie Finlay MP
Shadow Minister for Energy & Renewables
