Dean Winter & Labor will unleash a renewable
energy boom
Tasmania is the home of renewable energy in Australia. For more than 100 years, we have been at the forefront of innovation with renewables, but now, under the minority Liberal government, our natural advantages are slipping away. Labor will ensure new renewable energy projects get off the ground and unleash a boom in clean energy.
Unleashing a renewable energy boom
Tasmania’s economy has been driven by renewable energy investments for 100 years - and it’s time for us to take the next step.
We have the best wind resources in the country and Labor will unleash a new renewable energy boom by backing new windfarms across the state.
We will do this by allowing the Federal Government to take over Marinus, to make sure it gets built, so renewable energy proponents have the infrastructure they need to succeed.
Building a new offshore wind industry
Tasmania has a huge opportunity to secure an offshore wind industry, which will create hundreds of permanent, well-paid jobs in northern Tasmania.
But we have to get started on the infrastructure now. Labor will direct TasPorts to immediately begin the development of a plan and business case for the necessary infrastructure at Bell Bay, with a view to securing Federal Government support at the next election.
Labor has a plan for Tasmania.
