$100,000 already wasted on TasInsure – how much more to come?
Tasmanians are bracing for a horror state budget. Yet they are watching Premier Rockliff and Eric Abetz effectively set their money on fire on a policy they were promised would save them $250 per year.
John Trowbridge, (aka the Michael Jordan of insurance) was paid $100,000 to complete the report that was released yesterday.
That is over $2,000 per page or $2,500 per day of the six weeks it took to write. The report simply tells the Premier what he could have found out just by reading the Insurance Council’s report. Or even just listening to the RACT, or any of the Tasmanian insurance experts who I know have been contacting his office since TasInsure was first suggested.
Perhaps the Premier could auction off the TasInsure merchandise to help pay the bill?
The report states the bleeding obvious:
“My view with only a few moments’ reflection is that such an ambition (TasInsure) would not only be a disruption on an unachievable scale but also an aspiration with high risk, high cost and low chance of delivering in accordance with the background stated above.”
When did the Government know Mr Trowbridge had reached this conclusion?
And has the Government done any of its own modelling on the policy?
