A weak response from a weak Premier under the pump

16 January 2025

Premier Jeremy Rockliff’s desperate response to the criticisms of his leadership coming from all sides of politics confirms just how weak he’s become.

Instead of tackling the issue head on, the Premier misleadingly tried to blame Labor for his own brewing internal turmoil.

Not once has Labor attacked Leonie Hiscutt’s right to support her son – good luck to them.

We have simply pointed out the fact that a Premier who meekly watches on as his own Leader of Government Business campaigns against him is a weak leader. Under the Liberal party rules, Ms Hiscutt should no longer be a member of the party.

And it’s not just Labor saying it. The Premier would do well to remember it was members of his own party who raised their concerns with The Australian when the story first broke, and he surely hasn’t forgotten the scathing comments made by Eric Abetz’ right hand man, Brendan Blomeley.

With Minister Abetz lurking in the shadows, the Premier’s desperate deflections make it clear he is under the pump.

Shadow Treasurer
