Abetz still locked away after Blomeley’s broadside on Premier

21 January 2025

It’s been five days since Minister Eric Abetz’ right hand man Brendan Blomeley launched a scathing attack on Premier Jeremy Rockliff, labelling him “weak” and “pathetic” and declaring he “needs to go”.

It’s also been five days since the normally prolific media performer Mr Abetz held a press conference.

Coincidence? I don’t think so.

Mr Abetz has clearly been sidelined due to fears he’ll say the wrong thing and let bubbling Liberal cabinet discontent about the Premier’s handling of Leonie Hiscutt MLC campaigning against the government spill into the public.

Will Mr Abetz denounce Mr Blomeley’s comments today and state his full confidence in the Premier?

Or will the Liberal spin doctors keep the ambitious Minister locked away from media questioning for a bit longer?

Josh Willie MP
Shadow Treasurer
