Another project all out at sea under the Liberals

06 May 2025

Premier Jeremy Rockliff has pointedly avoided answering questions about his undeniable role in last weekend’s Tasmanian Liberal wipeout.

Premier Jeremy Rockliff has extraordinarily admitted that despite being meant to be completed by the end of this year, the Devils’ High Performance Centre in Kingston still has no concept design, and no final budget.

The Liberals have allocated $60 million for the project, but the Premier couldn’t provide any confidence that this budget would be met, with speculation growing it could end up costing Tasmanians double.

Sound familiar?

The Rockliff Minority Government brought international embarrassment to Tasmania for its handling of the Spirits fiasco, becoming infamous for forgetting to build a berth – a mistake which cost Tasmanians hundreds of millions of dollars, and billions more in lost opportunity.

Astonishingly, it appears the Premier still hasn’t learned his lesson from that monumental disaster.

The Premier has lost control of the AFL team project just like he’s lost control of the Spirits project.
