Budget errors raise further questions

Budget errors raise further questions

Health Minister Bridget Archer’s extraordinary admission that the budget papers are “incorrect” raises further questions about what else this Government has got wrong.

Last night in Estimates, Minister Archer revealed* the line item relating to the North West Regional Hospital was “incorrect in the budget papers”.

When asked about it in the Treasurer’s hearing today, Eric Abetz had no idea.

The Health Minister maintains that the project is due for completion in 2028, however the Budget allocates $21 million of the $47 million estimated cost after the project is expected to be completed.

The Budget papers also seem to only show $40 million worth of total funding for the project. It is unclear why an extra $7 million is listed.

If a three-year delay to a project is just a printing error, what else in the Budget is wrong? And how are the rest of the Budget’s totals affected?

Premier Rockliff has already shown his word can’t be trusted. Now we know the Budget he cooked up with Eric Abetz can’t be trusted either.
