Clear choice for Huon

Clear choice for Huon

Abby McKibben is a working mum raising two young kids, experienced and connected to the industries that drive the region, and I know she will make an exceptional member for Huon.

Abby is passionate about making life better for regional Tasmanians through improving access to health services and childcare, supporting local jobs and protecting the natural environment which makes our corner of the world so special to live in.

Abby has already shown she will be an effective advocate for the electorate, playing an instrumental role in securing a funding commitment for the critical Derwent Estuary Program which monitors water quality at Blackmans Bay Beach.

I look forward to the prospect of Abby joining the Labor caucus so she can continue to stand up for her community and make Tasmania a better place.

Attributable to Abby McKibben, Labor Candidate for Huon:

“In the three months since I announced my candidacy I’ve been focussed on getting out and talking to as many people as possible, and I’ve been honoured by the response I’ve received from the community.”

“It’s been a genuine highlight to meet and talk with families and people right across the electorate, I've heard a wide range of issues, but access to reliable healthcare, public transport and childcare, as well as the rising cost-of-living households are facing have dominated most of our discussions.”

“In particular, too many people in the Huon struggle to access the health services they need close to home and the common story I'm being told is about the incredibly long and painful wait times for ambulances. It's not good enough and is one of the issues people raise with me most, I’ve experienced it myself with my family, and it’s something I’m determined to work hard to change.”

“If I’m fortunate enough to be elected to represent the people of Huon, I vow to not stop fighting for better access to services, supporting our local jobs and protecting the beautiful natural environment we’re lucky to call home. I will be a positive, constructive voice for the people of the Huon.”
