Yesterday will be remembered as one of the strangest sitting days in recent memory as the Coalition of Chaos were in full swing.

It all started when the Greens, David O’Byrne and the Jacqui Lambie Network voted against the Government – in support of a motion that is part of a campaign to shut down racing and key components of the agriculture industry.

Then, the Jacqui Lambie Network and Kristie Johnston voted for a Greens’ forestry motion – with David O’Byrne abstaining.

Spectacularly, the Jacqui Lambie Network then opposed its only policy by voting against a key component on a motion that supported the UTAS city move.

And if more evidence was needed that it’s running around like a headless chook, the Jacqui Lambie Network proposed an inquiry into their own Coalition Government’s pets in rentals legislation, then voted to remove the inquiry from their own motion. 

The circus spread to the Government as they pulled their own motion defending their performance on health. But since their sweeping cuts to the health system are indefensible, that actually made sense.  

Finally, Jeremy Rockliff needs to table the advice he received from relevant departments regarding their proposed UTAS legislation by 5pm today. 

As Parliament sits for a final day before a four-week hiatus, it’s anybody’s guess what the Coalition of Chaos will deliver today. Strap in.
