Further admission TasInsure hasn’t done a thing

By Luke Edmunds MLC Shadow Minister for Finance

04 September 2026

More than a year on from Premier Rockliff’s election promise, the Liberal Government has admitted TasInsure isn’t doing a thing to curb rising insurance costs.

The draft small business strategy the Government released today is littered with references to businesses needing to prepare for rising insurance costs.

Wasn’t the Premier going to sort that out?

Premier Rockliff promised Tasmanian households and businesses they’d save $250 off their premiums, but they aren’t saving a thing.

In fact, the only tangible outcomes are $4.2 million worth of new costs in the budget, $150,000 paid to the Michael Jordan of insurance, and an MOU with a Tasmanian insurer coupled with a mystery retainer fee.
