Heartbreaking death must be a turning point
My deepest condolences go to the family and loved ones of the man who died at the Royal Hobart Hospital on Saturday night. No family should ever have to go through what they did, and my heart goes out to them.
My thoughts are also with the paramedics, nurses, doctors and Triple Zero staff who face situations like this every day. They are doing everything they can in a system that is letting them down.
This is the kind of tragic incident that workers, unions, and health experts have been warning about for years.
The Government needs to stop dismissing these warnings and start listening to the people on the frontline who see the consequences every single day.
Instead, Eric Abetz is cutting $700 million from health at the very moment the system needs more support, and Bridget Archer is backing him all the way.
Tasmanians need a Health Minister who will stand up for patients and frontline staff, not one that just follows Eric Abetz’s lead.
The Government must reverse these cuts and invest in the solutions our hospitals and ambulance service desperately need, so that when a Tasmanian family calls for help, help arrives.
