Howlett’s silence says it all

02 June 2026

Ella Haddad MP

Shadow Attorney-General
Shadow Minister for Justice

Shadow Minister for Integrity

2 June 2026

Howlett’s silence says it all

Minister Jane Howlett’s refusal to answer whether or not she is currently a party to any matter before the Supreme Court can only really mean one thing.

If she wasn’t, she would have said so.

The Integrity Commission confirmed with Estimates Committees this week that people being investigated could commence legal proceedings.

Former Minister Madeleine Ogilvie was able to disclose that she is party to a matter before the Supreme Court, that she initiated.

There is no legal reason Minister Howlett couldn’t answer this question too, but the fact she didn’t speaks volumes.
