Labor stands for safe, secure, well-paid jobs, and we’ll always back in workers when they advocate for better conditions.
Labor supports the Saputo dairy maintenance workers and their families, who are taking a strong stand against unfair treatment and the pay disparity with their mainland counterparts.
It is unacceptable that Tasmanian workers are paid 23 percent less than Victorian workers doing the same job. The perceived cheaper cost of living in Tasmania is a thing of the past.
All these workers want is to be treated fairly and be paid the same as those on the mainland. Tasmanians shouldn’t be forced to settle for less because of where we live.
Saputo is in Jeremy Rockliff’s electorate but so far he’s been too busy to meet with the workers on the north-west. Now they’ve travelled all the way down to Hobart we’re calling on the Premier to outline what action he’ll take to support the Saputo workers’ fight for equal pay.
We need a State Government that is going to stand up for workers who are sick and tired of being ignored.
Under my leadership, Labor will always stand up for workers and we will fight to make Tasmania the best place to live, work and raise a family..
