This election gives Tasmania a choice between a fresh start under Labor, or more of the same from a Liberal government that has racked up nearly $11 billion worth of debt in 11 years.
Labor announced in September that we will ban pork barrelling, and throughout this election campaign we will demonstrate our commitment to that pledge.
We will not allow debt to continue to be racked up for political purposes.
In government, we will legislate for all government grants to go through an independent, impartial assessment process. That means no more backroom deals, no more political favours, and an end to the ugly spectacle of government MPs being investigated by the Integrity Commission for making grants that directly benefit themselves or their families.
After 11 years of the Liberals, Tasmania can’t afford more of the same. It’s time for a fresh start under Labor.
