Labor stands for safe, secure, well-paid jobs.

Labor will be supporting the Development Assessment Panels legislation today in Parliament.

It has already taken 18 months for a bill to come to Parliament, after Jeremy Rockliff promised it in mid-2023. The Premier has been mucking around for far too long already.

Make no mistake: this is a patch up solution and it doesn’t address the bigger problem. This legislation only exists because the Liberals’ planning scheme is broken and has been a handbrake on development for the last decade. 

Far more needs to be done to get stalled projects moving again - but at least this is a start.

Labor has changed, and under my leadership we will always back jobs and development.
