Liberals gag Eric Abetz

Eric Abetz hasn’t fronted a camera in more than a month, and every day he stays hidden, more Tasmanians feel the effects of his cuts.

Students with a disability are losing educational support. The North-West has lost promised funding for a cancer hospital. And there’s still more of the $1.5 billion in cuts to come.

These are the Treasurer’s decisions, and he should have to answer for them.

But the cuts aren’t the only thing the Liberals want kept quiet.

Abetz has never been shy about his views on conversion practices. Now, just as the rest of the hard right is speaking out, he has gone completely silent. It’s clear the Liberals have gagged him.

Sources are telling us the Premier and Treasurer are no longer on speaking terms, with tensions over those views and the Premier’s decision to hand-pick Bridget Archer as his successor.

Premier Rockliff can gag his Treasurer, but he can’t hide from his own decision. He put Eric Abetz in charge of cutting jobs and services to pay for 13 years of Liberal waste, and Tasmanians are paying the price.
