Earlier in the day, Premier Rockliff was reluctant to admit that Aurora Energy was on the table to be flogged off as part of his fire-sale to pay down the soaring debt created on his watch.

Then this afternoon, exiled former Treasurer Michael Ferguson has sensationally admitted that under the Liberals, Aurora Energy has been on the market for 11 years.

“It has been prepared for sale (Aurora Energy) the entire time,” he proudly told the House.*

This comes despite repeated commitments from consecutive Liberal Premiers that Tasmania’s energy assets were not for sale.

This latest revelation makes it clearer than ever that the Liberals will try to sell Tasmania’s future to pay for their budget failures, and the Labor Party will stand in their way.
