After it was revealed that the Liberal minority government’s $100 million local content commitment is a complete farce, Premier Rockliff needs to come clean and acknowledge that it simply doesn’t pass the pub test. 

On the same day that Jane Howlett and Eric Abetz dismissed criticism of the local content delivery, TT-Line admitted that engines classified as local content were built in Finland.

You couldn’t make this stuff up.

The TCCI said the Liberals’ handling of the Spirits debacle will make it hard for businesses to ever trust the Rockliff Government again. Yet again, they have been proven right as the Liberals continue to let Tasmanian businesses down when it comes to local content.

TT-Line have reiterated that contractual penalties may apply if RMC doesn’t meet their local content requirements by the end of Spirit V’s warranty period. 

Premier Rockliff must commit to upholding these penalties.

Tasmanians are rightly proud of their Spirits, all they want is their government to be honest with them and finally deliver the benefits for business, community, and Tasmanian workers they promised. 

Tasmanians are sick and tired of the deception that has marred this ferry fiasco.
