Metro drivers at breaking point

07 November 2024

Labor stands for safe, secure, well-paid jobs, and that means standing with Tasmanian bus drivers fighting for better working conditions.

Metro bus drivers are at breaking point, with further industrial action planned for tomorrow after complete inaction from the Liberal minority government and Minister Abetz.

Tasmanian bus drivers have been subjected to dangerous attacks and abuse on numerous occasions, yet safety screens and Transit Officers have still not been implemented on Tasmanian buses. Some services still aren’t running, electric buses are still broken, and hydrogen buses are sitting at the depot with nowhere to refuel giving Tasmania a glimpse of the Spirits fiasco all over again.

The Liberal minority government are aware of the issues faced by Metro drivers and have failed to act, because they don’t care about workers.

Labor will always stand with workers fighting for better conditions, will the Liberal minority government and Minister Abetz back his workers in too?

Meg Brown MP
Shadow Minister for Transport
