Minister Palmer must release education review

09 January 2025

Strong educational outcomes are the key to securing Tasmania's economic future, providing young Tasmanians with access to well-paid, safe, and secure jobs.

As we move further into 2025, Minister Palmer should commit to immediately releasing the full Independent Review into the Tasmanian Education system.

The review’s report and recommendations were supposed to be received by the Government in December 2024.  There is no reason to further delay their release.

Addressing Tasmania’s poor educational outcomes needs to be a serious priority for this Government. Our results are among the worst in the nation and declining, year 12 completion rates are low, and planeloads of young Tasmanians are leaving our shores in search of better opportunities elsewhere.

We need to urgently work out the areas that need addressing so that we can get the best results for our kids and support our hard-working educators.

We can’t afford to waste any time so the Minister should commit to releasing the report immediately.

Sarah Lovell MLC
Shadow Minister for Education & Early Years
