Port costs still secret as Spirit IV approaches Scotland

01 December 2024

With Spirit of Tasmania IV on the open seas sailing towards its hiding spot in Scotland, Premier Jeremy Rockliff must finally come clean about the true costs to Tasmanians for keeping it there.

But as recently as Friday, the Premier still had no idea what the costs would be to store it in Leith.

The best estimate TT-Line has given for the costs of storing the Spirits in Scotland is $1.2 million per month, and we now know that Spirit IV will be in Scotland for a minimum of 30 days.

After being embarrassed by the Spirits fiasco, the Premier has said he would be open and transparent with Tasmanians. Actions speak louder than words.

The Premier must have some idea about the cost of storing Spirit IV in Scotland by now, and after keeping Tasmanians in the dark, its time he and his government comes clean.
