Racing Minister must provide update to participants left in the lurch

08 January 2025

When the Liberals decided to end racing at the Devonport Showgrounds in 2022, it was devastating news for the hundreds of jobs, small businesses and regional communities on the North-West Coast supported by the racing industry.

Jane Howlett and Jeremy Rockliff then promised participants they would get a new track – a promise they abandoned last year.

After breaking their promise to save greyhound and harness racing on the North-West Coast and with the Devonport Cup being held today at Spreyton, the Racing Minister has the ideal opportunity to provide an update for those participants who lost their track.
