Spirits horror show sinks to new depths, Tasmanians to pay the price for Liberal waste
The biggest infrastructure stuff-up in Tasmania’s history has just sunk to new depths.
Today’s announcement of a half-a-billion dollar bailout is the most shocking chapter yet of the horror novel known as the Spirits fiasco.
With the gantry finally in place, the infrastructure component of the project may now be behind Premier Rockliff, but the financial fallout and the impact on Tasmanians is only just setting sail.
After 13 years of Liberal waste Premier Rockliff has put Eric Abetz in charge of cutting jobs and essential services to pay for it.
There is no greater example of this waste than the Spirits fiasco, and it’s getting worse every day.
Every year Tasmanians will now be paying close to $30 million for what is effectively a ferries fiasco tax, just to service the interest on this bailout.
Tasmanians will be paying the price for the Spirits for generations to come, and every job and essential service that Eric Abetz cuts in next week’s budget is just the tip of the iceberg.
