Tasmanian energy crisis continues

30 June 2025

A third major Tasmanian manufacturing business is now under massive pressure with Boyer Paper Mill owner David Marriner outlining that there is no power available for the company's $24 million conversion from coal to electricity boilers.

This is an energy crisis caused the energy policies of this Liberal Government.

No new energy generation has been commissioned since 2020.

The Liberals have made Tasmania the hardest place in Australia to build a windfarm and continued jacking up transmission prices for our biggest employers.

This is now the third of four major Tasmanian manufacturing businesses to come out publicly and say they are facing serious challenges under the Rockliff Liberal Government.

Tasmania needs a fresh start with new planning policies and a focus on Tasmanian prices for Tasmanian power.
