Tasmanians still in the dark on Scottish port costs

05 November 2024

Premier Jeremy Rockliff is trying to hide the truth from Tasmanians.

After a Spirits Fiasco marred by secret bailout payments, massive cost blowouts, incompetence, and no accountability from the people responsible, Premier Rockliff expects us to take his word that storing the new Spirits in Scotland will “minimise the cost on Tasmanian taxpayers” – despite refusing to disclose what that cost is.

How can anyone believe a word this minority Liberal government says about the Spirits, given everything that’s happened?

We could park the Spirits in Tasmania for nothing. Premier Rockliff should immediately tell Tasmanians how much they are paying to keep the ships in Scotland.

This whole fiasco has been marred by secrecy and bad decisions. The Premier's refusal to come clean about his Scotland plan shows nothing has changed.

Shadow Treasurer
