TT-Line’s fuel surcharge making Tasmanians pay

A leaked email has revealed that the Spirit of Tasmania fuel surcharge could remain in place for months, despite fuel prices dropping below pre-Iran conflict levels.

The email, from TT-Line CEO Chris Carbone shows that the company is seeking to recoup 100 per cent of additional fuel costs associated with the war in the Middle East.

Tasmanians, like the rest of world, have already been hit hard by increased costs associated with the war.

Business that rely on the visitor economy are battling those challenges every day, and now fuel prices have settled it doesn’t make sense to continue to disincentivise travel to Tasmania through the surcharge.

But despite everyone feeling the pain of increased costs, TT-Line thinks it should be immune.

Tasmania’s government businesses are supposed to work for Tasmanians, yet after being taken to the brink by the Liberals, TT-Line is making Tasmanians pay instead.

Tasmanians have already paid enough for the Liberals’ ferry fiasco, with Eric Abetz cutting jobs and services to pay for the waste.

It’s beyond time the Liberals instructed TT-Line to lift the Spirits surcharge, so they don’t have to pay any more.
