Vincent misleading Tasmanians about Bridgewater Bridge yet again

16 April 2025

You can’t believe a word the Liberals say on infrastructure, and Minister Kerry Vincent’s latest attempt at rewriting history on the Bridgewater Bridge shows exactly why.

Despite being well aware of the truth, Minister Vincent has once again falsely claimed the project is on time, and on budget. It’s neither.

The Public Works Committee approved the project at a cost of $576 million in 2021. It's now $210 million over budget.

Former Infrastructure Minister Michael Ferguson also said cars would be driving over the bridge by the end of 2024. They aren’t.The only aspect of the project that the Liberals have managed to keep on budget so far is the $100,000 party they’re planning to throw when it's complete.

The minority Liberal government’s catastrophic infrastructure record speaks for itself. Kerry Vincent is only in the job because his predecessor is responsible for the biggest infrastructure stuff-up in Tasmanian history, the Spirits fiasco.

The Minister should immediately correct the record.
