With Tasmanian families doing it tough in the lead up to Christmas, Labor is calling for the Liberals to clarify their approach to the so-called Renewable Energy Dividend.
Last year, the dividend was announced three separate times, with the number changing each time. It was eventually delayed until July, having been promised almost a year earlier.
Data released last week shows that more than 12,000 Tasmanian households are in energy debt, with Tasmanian families almost twice as likely to be in debt than families on the mainland.
And that is just not ok.
We know Tasmanian power bills are the highest they have ever been, yet the Liberals continue to pretend everything is ok.
Hydro Tasmania made a $193.7 million profit last financial year, returning $122 million to the Tasmanian government as dividends.
The government knows the value of the Renewable Energy Dividend and has previously promised to give it back to Tasmanians.
Tasmanian Labor is calling on the government to clarify how much it is and when it will be delivered.
