Yet another broken Rockliff promise

Yet another broken Rockliff promise

Premier Jeremy Rockliff’s word is becoming next to worthless.

This morning, he has been exposed breaking yet another major election promise while he continues to let Eric Abetz run riot slashing $700 million from Tasmania’s health system.

At the Liberals’ election campaign launch on 29 June 2025, the Premier made what that ABC reported as his “most significant health announcement of the campaign so far” – promising 250 beds new beds at the Launceston General Hospital as part of the Northern Health Complex.

He said construction would start in 2028, yet this year’s budget shows next to no money allocated to the project until 2029-30, when only $8 million of the $240 million investment will be spent.

At the time of the announcement, the Premier said he could “guarantee” the project would not face the cost blow-out and scale-back which has been seen at the Royal Hobart Hospital revamp.

Less than 12 months later and it’s already being revised.

Premier Rockliff is being exposed for what he is, a chronic liar who will say anything to cling onto his job.
