A Dean Winter Labor Government will deliver a fresh start for Tasmanian infrastructure with a State Infrastructure Plan.
Labor will set a long-term vision for infrastructure investment, ending the ad hoc approach of the Liberals over the past 11 years.
A Labor Government will:
- Work with industry, business, councils and the community to understand capacity
- Plan projects years ahead to avoid delays
- Use a proven strategy to maximise investment and minimise waste
Why we need it
Labor’s vision is to transform Tasmania into a can-do place for investment and a state where things happen. Labor will change the way investors perceive Tasmania as a place to do business.
Every Tasmanian knows that the Liberals failed to deliver the Spirits and build the port. Tasmanians deserve better than a government that commissions new ships but forgets to build them a berth.
After 11 years of the Liberals, investors looking to Tasmania as a place to do business can’t get things done.
There is an ad hoc approach to infrastructure policy and planning across Tasmania. In addition to the Spirit of Tasmania ferry fiasco, there are poorly managed and maintained critical assets, delayed projects, and enormous waste and delay.
This is bad for our community, bad for business and bad for our economy.
