Labor Leader Dean Winter.

Hi, I’m Dean. I’m grateful and proud to be a Tasmanian. As a kid from the West Coast I was supported through school and found good jobs, from my first job behind the counter at a servo more than 20 years ago to where I am today. Now I'm a dad to two young kids of my own, George and Harriet, and I want the same opportunities for them.

So many Tasmanians tell me the want the same thing - for their kids to reach their potential, have great opportunities and be able to build a life here in Tasmania, without having to leave for the mainland.

That’s why, under my leadership, Labor will give Tasmania a fresh start.

We'll give kids the best possible start in life, with access to quality education and care, and the support services they need.

We'll ensure young people have career opportunities and a great lifestyle here in our state, so they want to stay in Tasmania to live, work and raise their own families.

And we'll grow our state by backing in development and investment, and supporting workers and the key industries that employ Tasmanians, across all sectors including tourism and hospitality, education and care, and construction and resources. 

I know things can be better for Tasmania. We just need people with the energy and the drive to take our state forward. My Labor team and I are ready for it.
