As someone who lives, works and raises a family in Lyons, Brian is deeply invested in making regional Tasmania as good as it can be.

Brian is a down-to-earth character – his first job was as a teenage restaurant manager flipping burgers at Hungry Jacks – and he retains a sharp wit and discerning eye forged working as a print journalist.

Brian was Labor’s Federal Member for Lyons for 10 years. He passionately sought to  rebuild Tasmania's regions by advocating for services for regional Tasmania. Brian has seen firsthand how regional communities are hollowed out when government services and businesses leave towns, and has worked hard to reverse the trend and get services and staff back into our regional centres.

Lyons is a diverse electorate with people spread across half of the state and Brian is committed to providing health care, banking, and essential services to all Lyons residents, regardless of their postcode.

Brian wholeheartedly supports our public health system, and believes we must protect and improve it. Too many Tasmanians wait too long for treatment, or are forced to travel too far to get the care they need.

Brian is a keen volunteer in the community – he’s often spotted working behind the till at local footy matches – and has been a tireless campaigner for local businesses in Lyons.

Brian always puts his community first, and he’s always there to fight for the people of Lyons.
