Federal Labor Candidate for Bass
Jess Teesdale is a proud Tasmanian, Launceston born and raised. She grew up in Launceston, went to school here, coached basketball here, and studied teaching here. There’s nowhere else she would want to call home. Jess is determined to create a Tasmania where no one feels they must leave to succeed.
As a teacher, Jess worked every day to help students get ready for their future. She worked tirelessly to help students thrive, witnessing firsthand the importance of investing in the future, with strong healthcare, quality education, and reliable infrastructure in creating opportunities for individuals and families in her local community. Jess can be regularly found volunteering at Launceston Parkrun, the National Trust, coaching basketball and teaching English to adults. These experiences have deepened her drive to fight for better healthcare, education, and economic opportunities for people who live in Bass.
Labor has already delivered real results for Northern Tasmania, including opening the Launceston Medicare Urgent Care Clinic, reducing the cost of medicines, and securing a well-deserved pay rise for early childhood educators. Jess is committed to building on this progress to ensure every young person in Bass can access meaningful work, affordable housing, and healthcare without having to leave the region.
Jess believes in a community where no one faces hardship alone, and opportunities are within reach for all. As the Federal Labor candidate, she will always stand up for the people of Bass, working to deliver practical solutions and a building a better future for all Tasmanians.
